Horizontal versus Vertical orientation for portraits pictures

Most photos are taken in horizontal orientation or usually referred to landscape. This is because cameras are designed to be held horizontally and that's why the shutter button is on the top right, right where your finger would naturally be.

However, professional portraits are generally taken using a vertical orientation. That is why you often seen 'portrait orientation' when you go to print something on your computer. So, if you want more professional-looking portraits, our recommendation is to turn the camera vertically and shoot in portrait orientation. There are exceptions, find out more from our website.
